| | Here is my translation of Carmen 13:
Fabullus, in a few days, you’ll be able, if the gods allow, to eat at my table; provided, that is, you bring a big enough meal – a lamb or goat or pig – and you don’t forget a horny girl along with a bottle, your wit and usual loud noisy laughter. I guarantee you’ll eat your fill; right now my wallet’s full of cobwebs. In return, I promise you something sweeter and more lavish – a perfume of my girl’s, one whiff of which, Fabullus, will have you stiff and smitten by a hail of Cupid’s arrows, wishing you were one big nose!
