I believe there is a mistake in the translation of Carmen 11.
sive [penetrabit] quae septemgeminus colorat aequora Nilus
is translated as "or [if he penetrates] the seven fold Nile which which colors the plains"
Nilus is masculine and nominate in this case, so it cannot be the direct object. Also, the relative pronoun agrees with aequora, not Nilus. I believe a more accurate translation would be "or [if he penetrates] the plains which the seven-fold Nile colors."
